Endicott Claims 3-1 Win Over Salem St. Behind Dippel's 18 Kills

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's volleyball team extended its win streak against North Shore foe Salem St. to 12 on Wednesday night, claiming a 3-1 victory. With the win, Endicott improved to 3-1 on the season while Salem St. fell to 1-1.

The Gulls jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after taking the first 25-6 before being tripped up in the second by a 25-18 final. Tied at 1-1, Endicott would then win the next two by scores of 25-13 and 25-14 to close out the match.

Leading the attack on the night was junior Alex Dippel (Fallston, Md.) who finished with a match-high 18 kills with just one error on 27 attempts. Her .630 average was also the high mark in the contest. Setter Zoey Gifford (Natick, Mass.) led all players with 34 assists in just three sets played to go with four digs. Sophomore middle Nicole Winkler (Southborough, Mass.) hit .533 on the night following an impressive 9-1-15 line. Mackenzie Kennedy (Andover, Mass.) led all players with 17 digs in the match.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is now 16-5 all-time against Salem St. The women have gone 36-2 in sets played during the 12 match win streak.
  • Dippel's 18 kills tied her career-best mark that she set in a five-set win over Amherst on 9/13/17.
  • The Gulls saw Carley Gagnon (Goffstown, N.H.) set career-highs in kills (5), attempts (13), aces (2) and digs (3).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (3-1) plays host to Colby on Friday night at 6 PM while Salem St. (1-1) travels to Rhode Island College.
