Endicott Falls to Wellesley 3-1 to Open 2018 Campaign

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's volleyball team fell to visiting Wellesley 3-1 on Friday to open up the 2018 season. Set scores for the match were 25-23, 21-25, 25-20 and 25-21.

Behind a match-best 16 kills from Lauren Gedney (Huntersville, N.C.) and 14 kills from Nicole Doerges (San Marino, Calif.), the Blue out-hit the Gulls .227 to .115 for the match. Both teams served aggressively with Wellesley totaling six aces and Endicott finishing with five.

BEYOND THE BOX

  • The Gulls were led by reigning Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Year Emma Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.) who posted a double-double to open the year with 15 kills and 10 digs to go along with two aces.
  • Zoey Gifford (Natick, Mass.) led all players with 42 assists while also chipping in 12 digs as Remi Quesnelle (Sunderland, Mass.) finished with 10 kills and five digs from the pin.
  • Defensively, libero Mackenzie Kennedy (Andover, Mass.) finished with 16 digs, good for the second highest total in the match to lead the Gulls.
  • Endicott is now 2-4 against Wellesley in the last six meetings between the two schools, dating back to 2014.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott travels to Springfield College to take on Lawrence and Skidmore on Saturday while Wellesley is off until next Friday when they host Suffolk.
