Endicott to take on Ithaca in the NCAA DIII Tournament First Round

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA released the 2017 Division III Women's Volleyball Championship brackets on Monday afternoon, and Endicott (22-9) will be taking on Ithaca (21-9) in the opening round. Joining Endicott and Ithaca in the pod are the hosts Clarkson (21-7), Morrisville St. (23-6), Babson (20-9), Vassar (22-7), Stevens Tech. (26-7) and Merchant Marine (17-7).

THE MATCHUP

Endicott, after winning the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championship over Roger Williams 3-2, advances to the NCAA DIII Women's Volleyball Championship with an overall record of 22-9. The Gulls, winners of 10 straight, will take on Ithaca in the opening round. Having lost in the Liberty League championship match to Clarkson 3-2, Ithaca received an at-large berth to the tournament as they currently possess an overall record of 21-9.  

POSTSEASON HISTORY 

The 2017 campaign represents Endicott's sixth trip to the NCAA DIII Tournament under 18th year head coach Tim Byram. Under his tutelage, the Gulls have produced a 361-264 (.578) record overall, including a conference record of 130-28 (.823), including six CCC championships.

ENDICOTT (22-9, 8-1 CCC) | STATISTICS | SCHEDULE

The Gulls come into the NCAA Tournament having won 10 straight matches, including three CCC tournament matches. In the most recent, Endicott became the first CCC team in conference history to win a championship on the road, knocking off rival Roger Williams 3-2 in Bristol, R.I. Emma Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.) leads the Gulls with a school-record 438 kills to date on the season as she is hitting .267 while averaging 4.13 kills/set.

ITHACA (21-8, 6-1 LIBERTY LEAGUE) | STATISTICS | SCHEDULE

The Bombers come into the NCAA Tournament after falling to NCAA Tournament pod host Clarkson 3-2 in the Liberty League championship. Leading the attack for Ithaca is freshman Regan Stone (St. Louis, Mo.) who has collected 322 kills on the season while averaging 3.13 kills/set while hitting .286.

The winner of the match will advance to take on the winner of the Stevens Tech. and Merchant Marine.
