CCC WOMAN OF THE YEAR RELEASE | NCAA WOMAN OF THE YEAR RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott volleyball student-athlete Tori McIntyre (San Diego, Calif.) has been chosen as Endicott's 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee. McIntyre is one of a record 543 female college student-athletes to have been nominated for the prestigious award, and also one of 197 NCAA Division III student-athletes selected. 

A nursing major, McIntyre was a four-year starter on the Endicott women's volleyball team and earned a number of accolades for her efforts on the court. She was a four-time All-CCC honoree, making the First Team in her final three seasons. She was also a two-time CCC Player of the Year, earning the award in both her junior and senior campaigns. 

The San Diego-native was also recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) with First Team All-Region nods and Honorable Mention All-America selections in both 2015 and 2016. The 2015 Honorable Mention All-America selection was the first-ever in program history. Meanwhile, her stellar play over her career helped her team to the Conference Tournament in all four of her seasons culminating in a CCC Championship in 2016. 

Off the court, the 2016 team captain participated in a number of community service activities including fundraising for the Allergy and Asthma Awareness Initiative, participating in Relay for Life, participating in the athletic department toy drive, and participating in LEAD. 

McIntyre, who was diagnosed with type I diabetes as a child, also helped in gift procurement for the Diabetes Gala and was the team lead for Tour de Cure for the American Diabetes Association. She also had a high level of academic success as she was a named to the Dean's List. McIntyre was also the Endicott Coaches Award winner in 2016 and 2017 and named the Endicott Female Athlete of the Year in 2017. 

NCAA WOMAN OF THE YEAR GUIDELINES/SELECTION PROCESS 

Established in 1991 and now in its 27th year, the NCAA Woman of the Year award honors graduating female college student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service, and leadership throughout their collegiate careers. 

The NCAA encourages member schools to honor their top graduating female student-athletes each year by submitting their names for consideration for the Woman of the Year award. 

Next, conferences will select up to two conference nominees each from the pool of school nominees. The Woman of the Year selection committee, made up of representatives from the NCAA membership, will then choose the top 30 honorees — 10 from each division. 

From the top 30, the selection committee determines the top three honorees from each division and announces the nine finalists in September. 

The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics then chooses the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year from those nine. The top 30 honorees will be recognized and the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced at the annual award ceremony Oct. 22 in Indianapolis. 

McIntyre is joined on the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) ballot along with BreAnna Fraser (Eastern Nazarene), Bridget Quilty (Roger Williams), and Taylor Little Langevin (University of New England).
