2016 NEWVA Senior Classic Release
2016 NEWVA Final Regional Poll
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott seniors Tori McIntyre (San Diego, Calif.) and Erika Trudon (Coventry, Conn.) have been selected to compete in the 2016 New England Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (NEWVA) Senior Classic while the Gulls finished the season tied for 10th in the final NEWVA Regional Poll. The end of season ranking represents the highest regional ranking for the Gulls in the history of the NEWVA poll and comes after a 22-12 season that saw the Gulls claim the program's fifth Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) title.
For McIntyre and Trudon, the honors add to a long list of career accolades that culminated in the team's first CCC Championship since 2008. McIntyre, the CCC Player of the Year for the second straight season, was named AVCA Honorable Mention All-America and All-Region following the team's NCAA DIII Tournament Appearance. The outside was named to the All-CCC First Team for the third time in her career after earning Honorable Mention honors as a freshman. She is the third player in program history to earn at least three First Team All-Conference nods. McIntyre became just the second women's player to eclipse the 1,300 kill and 1,300 dig plateau as she finished her season with 1,312 career kills and 1,.324 digs. Her 1,312 kills put her in second all-time on the career kills list while her 1,324 digs elevated her to eighth. During the 2016 campaign, McIntyre recorded a single season career-best 363 kills and 330 digs, which was her third best season defensively. The four year started also posted career-best numbers in kills/set (3.13), hitting percentage (.239), points (425.0), points/set (3.7), digs/set (2.84), and service aces/set (.40).
For Trudon, the two-time captain produced her All-CCC season after missing all of 2015 with a knee injury. The senior capped her playing career with an All-CCC Third Team nod as she continued to climb up the all-time rankings of Endicott women's volleyball. During the CCC championship run, Trudon eclipsed the 1,400 career dig plateau as she finished her career with 1,427, good for sixth all-time at Endicott. The Coventry, Conn. native finished with a career average of 4.35 digs/set, good for third in Endicott history, while she also finished ninth in career aces with 147. In every season that she played, Trudon earned All-CCC honors, including an AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention nod as a freshman. The two seniors led the Gulls to an 87-55 record overall during their careers while posting a 26-7 record in CCC play. The Gulls won their first ever ECAC DIII New England title in 2015 before closing their careers with a CCC in 2016.
Following the team's post season run that saw the Gulls fall in the 2016 NCAA DIII Tournament to Springfield, 3-1, Endicott finished tied for 10th in the final NEWVA Regional Poll. This is the highest ranking the Gulls have finished in the poll, having previously been voted 13th on multiple occasions.
