McIntyre Named to 2016 AVCA All-New England Team

2016 AVCA ALL-REGION RELEASE

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released the 2016 NCAA DIII All-Region Teams on Thursday, and Endicott senior Tori McIntyre (San Diego, Calif.) was named to the All-New England Team for the second time in her illustrious career. With the honor, McIntyre now qualifies for AVCA All-America consideration.

The 5-10 outside has now earned the distinction in each of the past two seasons. In the 2016 season, McIntyre has become just the second player in program history to accumulate 1,300 kills and 1,300 digs in a career, joining 2010 graduate Stephanie Wiese. In leading the Gulls to the program's first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) title since 2008, McIntyre racked up 351 kills and 322 digs while hitting at a .241 clip throughout the season. McIntyre reached the 1,300 kill plateau in the CCC Championship win over #3 Western New England, while her 1,300th dig came in the team's 3-0 sweep of #5 Salve Regina.

The senior nursing major has earned All-CCC nods throughout her entire career, earning First Team honors for each of the last three seasons. Currently sitting in third all-time in career kills at Endicott and eighth all-time in career digs, McIntyre was named CCC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, becoming the first player in program history to earn the honor twice.

McIntyre will lead the Gulls into the NCAA DIII Tournament on Friday as they travel to Medford, Mass. to take on Springfield in the Opening Round on the campus of Tufts. Match time is currently slated for a 12:30 p.m. start.
