SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Endicott women's volleyball program saw five members earn 2016 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-Conference honors on Thursday as was announced by the conference office as Tori McIntyre (San Diego, Calif.) was named CCC Player of the Year for the second straight season and Tim Byram was named Coach of the Year.
Senior Tori McIntyre was named the CCC Player of the Year for the second straight season, becoming the first in program history to earn the honor twice, let alone in consecutive years. McIntyre earned the honor during a year in which she eclipsed the 1,000 career kill plateau and 1,000 dig plateau. Heading into CCC Tournament play, McIntyre has 1,257 kills and 1,288 digs, good for fourth and eighth on the all-time career list at Endicott, respectively. In 2016, McIntyre has 308 kills on 947 attempts for 2.99 kills/set as she is hitting .228 for the year which averaging 2.85 digs/set. McIntyre leads all CCC players in kills and 10th overall in digs against all competition. In CCC play, the senior is tied for first with 106 kills and leads all players in kills/set with 3.79, while she is 11th in digs and dig/set.
Leading the Gulls is head coach Tim Byram who was named CCC Coach of the Year for the third time in his distinguished career. Currently in his 17th season at the helm, the women have posted a 19-11 record on the season to date and went a perfect 9-0 in CCC play. The 9-0 mark is third time the Gulls have done so under Byram, and the first time since 2008. Throughout his time at Endicott, the Gulls have posted a 336-254 record (.569) overall, and a record of 122-25 (.830) against conference foes.
ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM
Tori McIntyre | Sr. | OH | San Diego, Calif.
McIntyre, a four-time All-CCC honoree, has now been named to the All-CCC First Team for the past three seasons, while her freshman campaign landed her an Honorable Mention nod. On the season, McIntyre has become just the fourth player in program history to eclipse both the 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs plateaus, joining Killeen Ross '06, Stephanie Wiese '10, and Brittany Phillips '11 as the only members of the club. Her 308 kills are tops on the team in 2016 as do her 42 aces and 364.5 points, while her 294 digs and average of 2.85 digs/set are good for second.
ALL-CCC SECOND TEAM
Mareena Clotfelter | So. | S | Poulsbo, Wash.
As a sophomore, Clotfelter has earned her first All-CCC nod during a season in which she has averaged 5.82 assists/set and 2.21 digs/set in a 6-2 offense. Her 605 assists to date in 2016 eclipsed her total from her freshman campaign in which she notched 500 for the season. The setter has helped to lead the Gulls to a .197 hitting percentage against all competition this season, good for second among all CCC schools, while the Gulls have hit .209 in conference play, good for third in the CCC. Clotfelter has posted nine double-double performances on the season, including a 40 assist, 19 dig performance against Amherst.
Lauren Sheehan | Jr. | RS | Bainbridge Island, Wash.
Sheehan earns the second All-CCC Second team nod of her career, as she received the honor in 2015 as a sophomore. The pin hitter finished second on the team in kills with 243 and points with 259.5, while finishing third in kills/set with 2.70 and total blocks with 30. Sheehan reached double-digit kill totals 13 times on the season which was highlighted by a 12 kill performance in which she hit .417 in the team's 3-0 sweep of Gordon.
ALL-CCC THIRD TEAM
Erika Trudon | Sr. | L | Coventry, Conn.
The senior co-captain, who returned to the team after missing all of 2015 with a knee injury, earns the third All-CCC honor of her career, adding to her Second Team nod as a freshman and Honorable Mention honor as a sophomore. Trudon has collected 325 digs to date on the season, bringing her career total to 1,372 digs and moving her into seventh on the all-time career list at Endicott. The senior produced 16 double-digit dig efforts in 22 matches played, recording a career-best 33 digs in the team's match against Amherst.
Zoey Gifford | Fr. | S/RS | North Easton, Mass.
As a freshman setter in the 6-2 offense for the Gulls, Gifford 395 assists and 4.07 assists/set were both good for second on the roster as she earned the first All-CCC nod of her career. Gifford was also solid defensively, recording 167 digs on the season. The freshman has notched six double-doubles on the season to date, highlighted by a 22 assists, 11 dig performance in the team's 3-1 win over Salve Regina in which she also posted three digs.
