Women’s Volleyball Splits On Day One Of Tom Hay Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Endicott women's volleyball team split a pair of matches against Bard and Springfield on Friday night at Blake Arena in the opening night of the Tom Hay Invitational. The Gulls defeated Bard, 3-0, by scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-20, but fell to Springfield, 3-0, by scores of 25-23, 25-14, 25-19.

MATCH ONE: Endicott 3, Bard 0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-20)

Tori McIntyre (San Diego, Calif.) paced the Gulls with 11 kills, four digs, and two service aces. Remi Quesnelle (Sunderland, Mass.) added eight kills on 11 swings (.636), while Lauren Sheehan (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) chipped in with seven putaways, three digs, and two block assists.

Defensively, Erika Trudon (Coventry, Conn.) notched a team-high 13 digs, three more than Mareena Clotfelter (Poulsbo, Wash.) who also guided Endicott's attack with 17 assists.

MATCH TWO: Springfield 3, Endicott 0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-19)

Sheehan guided Endicott offensively with 11 kills, while Clotfelter compiled 21 assists and five digs in the loss.

As a team, Springfield hit .276, and limited the Gulls to a .139 hitting percentage by registering 61 digs (15 more than Endicott).

Endicott (12-8) takes on Westfield State University and Amherst College tomorrow in day two of the Tom Hay Invitational, hosted by Springfield College, at 11 AM and 1 PM, respectively.
