Gulls Sweep Weekly Awards After Three Conference Wins

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Following an undefeated week that saw the team win three Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matches and culminated with a win over bitter rival and previously undefeated #22 Roger Williams, the Endicott women's volleyball team has swept the weekly CCC honors of Player of the Week, Libero of the Week and Rookie of the Week.  It is the first time all season that Endicott has swept the awards.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Mackenzie Guerre (Carlsbad, Calif.) earned her first CCC Player of the Week honors during a week in which she recorded two matches with a .600 hitting percentage or higher and also finished third on the team in total kills.  To start the week, Guerre hit an astounding .652 in the team's 3-1 win against Wentworth as she finished second in the match with 16 kills.  Her .652 led the match as did her five total blocks and 23.5 points.  Guerre followed that performance up with a 7-1-10 (.600) line against Curry in just one set as the Gulls swept the Colonels easily.  The sophomore middle again played a critical role for the team as they went on to upset previously unbeaten and nationally ranked #22 Roger Williams 3-2 on Homecoming Weekend.  Guerre's 11 kills were third highest on the team while her .222 led the team against a Hawks squad that has held opponents to a .110 average on the season.  Guerre is now hitting a team best .312 on the season while averaging 2.55 kills per set.  Her numbers are even better in conference as she is hitting .398 with 3.00 kills/set.  Her .398 average in CCC play leads the conference.

LIBERO OF THE WEEK: Erika Trudon (Coventry, Conn.) received her second CCC Libero of the Week honors after she 3.92 digs per set in three crucial CCC victories.  Two of Trudon's performances were team highs and she has now registered double-digit dig totals in 14 of 15 matches since being named the team's starting libero.  In a 3-2 victory over the CCC defending champions, the defensive specialist recorded 21 digs. Her defensive effort helped hold the Hawks to a season low .148 hitting percentage. Trudon earned 15 digs in a 3-0 sweep at Curry and 11 digs in a 3-1 win over Wentworth. The freshman also recorded 62 receptions without an error in the three matches.  The freshman also recorded five aces on the week with three coming in the win over Curry.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Tori McIntyre (San Diego, Calif.) collected her second Rookie of the Week honors as she helped the Gulls earn a 3-0 record in conference action last week. McIntyre recorded her fourth double-double as Endicott beat No. 22 Roger Williams. In the five set victory over the top team in the region, the freshman recorded 14 kills and 15 digs.  In a 3-1 victory over Wentworth, the outside hitter just missed out on recording another double-double as she recorded eight kills and eight digs.  McIntyre has now registered double digit dig totals seven times and is third on the team in kills and second in digs.

Endicott is now off until Wednesday when they travel to Salve Regina for another matchup of undefeated CCC teams.  Salve enters the match 17-1 and 3-0 in CCC play while Endicott, winners of five straight, stands at 12-9 and 5-0 in the CCC.
