Balanced Offense Leads Gulls to Sweep of Colonels

MILTON, Mass.- Behind a balanced offense that saw 12 players register at least one attempt, Endicott was able to sweep Curry and remain perfect in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.  The Gulls have now won their last four contests and have improved to 4-0 in CCC play.  Endicott now prepares for a pivotal CCC matchup that pits the Gulls against Roger Williams who is also undefeated in conference play.

The Gulls were able to sweep the Colonels 3-0 with set scores of 25-10, 25-17, 25-12.  Lily Benabou (Medway, Mass.) sparked the Endicott offense as she notched a team high eight kills in her two sets played.  Mackenzie Guerre (Carlsbad, Calif.) had another outstanding night as she notched seven kills on just 10 attempts with one error for a .600 clip in just one set played.  Over her last two matches, Guerre has now hit at a .636 clip as she has totaled 23 kills on 33 attempts with just two errors.  Reigning CCC and ECAC Player of the Week Callie Dolan registered three kills on four error-less swings.  Opposites Lexi Watts (San Diego, Calif.) and Jackie Cone (Salem, N.H.) combined for nine kills on 20 attempts.

Cone was also second on the team with seven digs on the evening.  Leading the team and match in digs was Erika Trudon (Coventry, Conn.) as she picked up 15 in three sets played.  The Endicott defense was able to hold the Colonels to just 11 kills on the night and forced them into 10 errors for a .011 average.  Dolan picked up eight in her lone set while Benabou and Alleigh VandeMerkt (Riverside, Ill.) each chipped in with five a piece.  VandeMerkt also totaled 34 assists which gives her 84 in her last seven sets played, good enough for an average of 12/set.

Endicott now looks ahead to Saturday when they will play host to #23 Roger Williams as a part of Homecoming Weekend.  RWU comes into the match undefeated in 2013 and riding a 19 match win streak.  The Gulls come in with plans to avenge a three set loss from 2012.
