Dolan Earns All-Tournament Honors as Gulls Go 2-0 on Saturday

NEW YORK, N.Y.-  With two matches to play on Saturday and a chance to even their overall record at 9-9 on the season, Endicott stepped up in a big way as they took down the hosts Baruch 3-1 before sweeping Ramapo 3-0.  The Gulls finished the Baruch Invitational with a 2-1 record and have now won six of their last eight matches.  Senior Callie Dolan (Westford, Mass.) was named to the All-Tournament team for her performance.

MATCH 1:  Endicott 3 Baruch 1 (25-21, 25-15, 19-25, 25-19)

Coming off of a loss on Friday night to Richard Stockton, the Gulls were eager to get back to action and took to the court at 11 a.m. against the hosts of Baruch College.  Senior Callie Dolan was outstanding for Endicott as she led the team with 23 kills in the four sets.  Dolan's line of 23-8-46 also led the team with a .326 hitting percentage.

The sophomore class was equally as impressive as Mackenzie Guerre (Carlsbad, Calif.) and Alleigh VandeMerkt (Riverside, Ill.) each starred in their own rights.  Guerre led the team with four blocks as she also picked up nine kills on 27 swings in the middle.  VandeMerkt led the team in aces and assists as she served up two aces while also averaging 10 assists per set to total 40.

Junior Jessica Petrucci (Cape Coral, Fla.) and freshman Erika Trudon (Coventry, Conn.) led the defensive effort as both players contributed 11 and nine digs respectively.

MATCH 2:  Endicott 3 Ramapo 0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-15)

With a quick turnaround after their first match against Baruch, Endicott rode that momentum and turned it into a clean sweep of the Roadrunners from Ramapo.  With the win, the Gulls improved to 9-9 on the season.

Sophomore Mackenzie Guerre put forth a great effort as she hit .647 with 12 kills.  Her 12 kills came with only one error on 17 attempts.  The middle also picked up one block in the match.  Equally as impressive was freshman Tori McIntyre (San Diego, Calif.) who had nine kills on 15 error-free swings.  Her .600 clip was second only to Guerre as the freshman continues to impress at the collegiate level.

Dolan tied for the team lead in kills as the senior registered 12 on 32 attempts.  The outside also led the team in blocks as she put up three blocks in the match.  Freshman libero Erika Trudon was impressive on the defensive end yet again as she led the team in digs with 12 and aces with three.   VandeMerkt improved upon her 10 assists/set numbers from the match against Baruch and went on to average 12 per set against Ramapo.  Her 36 assists were a match high and complimented a great all-around effort that included two blocks and two aces.

Endicott now returns home to get ready for three straight Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matches.  On Tuesday, the Gulls play host to Wentworth at 7 p.m. before traveling to Curry on Thursday for a 7 p.m. start.  The week culminates with a pivotal CCC showdown between the Hawks of Roger Williams and Endicott on Saturday at 2 p.m. as part of the Endicott Homecoming festivities.
