Endicott drops pair to Conn. College and Coast Guard
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott College suffered a pair of non-conference setbacks on Saturday, falling to the United States Coast Guard Academy and Connecticut College in a tri-match in Beverly, Mass. Coast Guard, who beat both Endicott and Conn. College, improves to 22-3 on the season. Connecticut College moves to 18-5 with a win and a loss while Endicott dips to 15-15 overall.

Coast Guard defeated Endicott in the day’s first match by the score of 3-1. The Bears used set scores of 25-16, 25-11, 21-25 and 25-19 to secure the win. CGA was paced by Keriann Mason (Highland, Calif.) and her 10 kill, four block, 16 dig and six ace effort in the win. The Bears also got 10 kills from Nicole Johnson (New Braunfels, Texas), while Lauren Bloch (Centennial, Colo.) chipped in with nine kills. Karen Matic (Oswego, Ill.) handed out 34 assists and Jessica Anderson (Kalamazoo, Mich.) chipped in with 19 digs.

Endicott was led by \#Steph Wiese\# (Higganum, Conn.) and her 12 kills. \#Brittany Phillips\# (Sudbury, Mass) and \#Jackie Gardner\# (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) each added eight kills, while \#Ashley Norley\# (Sudbury, Mass.) had 20 digs. Junior \#Ally Murphy\# (Gilford, N.H.) dished out 14 assists in the setback.

Coast Guard continued to roll into its second match of the day, downing Connecticut College, 3-0. The Bears defeated the Camels, 25-21, 25-12 and 25-21 in the three-set sweep. Keriann Mason continued her well-rounded play with seven kills, five blocks and three aces while Karen Matic had 30 assists and 12 digs. Connecticut College got 12 kills from Amy Newman (Los Angeles, Calif.) and 12 digs from Molly Barrett (Medfield, Mass.). Marissa DeMais (Hillsdale, N.J.) posted 23 assists.

After dropping the opening set 25-20 to Endicott, Connecticut College rebounded with wins of 25-11, 25-15 and 25-18 to take the match, 3-1. Rachel Schroff (Palos Verdes, Calif.) scored 14 kills and 16 digs, while Meg Christman (Wilmington, Del.) and Lauren Wise (Oakton, Va.) had 10 kills apiece. DeMais posted 41 assists while Barrett notched 20 digs in the victory.

\#Brittany Phillips\# had nine kills and 12 digs against the Camels, while Wiese finished with eight kills and 12 digs. \#Ashley Norley\# led the team with 17 digs and \#Ally Murphy\# combined with \#Molly Postma\# (Everett, Wash.) for 25 assists.

Endicott returns to action on Wednesday when the Gulls travel to cross-town rival Gordon College for a 7:00 p.m. match-up with the Fighting Scots.
