Gulls to Open NCAA Tournament with Wellesley College

BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott College women's volleyball team will open the 2007 NCAA New England Regional Tournament against Wellesley College at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon at the host Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass.

Endicott, winners of The Commonwealth Coast Conference, enter the NCAA Tournament riding an eight match winning streak. The Gulls defeated Colby-Sawyer College, 3-2, in the TCCC Finals to improve their record to 26-10 overall and earn the automatic qualifier to the Regional Tournament.

Wellesley College (27-6) earned a berth onto the national stage by handing 25th-ranked MIT its first regional loss, capturing the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference title in four games. The NEWMAC championship was Wellesley's sixth in program history.

The Gulls and the Blue Pride will square-off at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8th on the campus of MIT in Cambridge, Mass. Wellesley was awarded the No. 4 seed in the tournament while Endicott sits in the No. 5 spot.
