BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott women's volleyball team captured the 2006 Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship with a three game sweep of Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon.

The Gulls dictated the pace in the first and third games winning 30-22 and 30-23. Endicott struggled a bit in the second game but rallied from being down eight points to take a 30-28 win.

Freshmen Steph Wiese (Higganum, CT/Haddam-Killingworth) had a huge game as she notched 18 kills and 10 digs to go along with one service ace, while Sara Moore was close behind with 14 kills and five digs.

CCC Player of the Year Meghan Hall (Santa Cruz, CA/Aptos) dished out 38 assists, had 16 digs and added two kills to the winning effort. Libero Brittany Nolan (Munroe, CT/Masuk) set a program record for digs in a three game match with 31, while Hayley Janelle (Madbury, NH/Oyster River) tied the school record for blocks with seven. As a team EC also racked up a record number for assists with 48.

Endicott's dominance of the CCC culminated in a conference title but perhaps the thing that punctuates exactly how dominant EC has been is its record against CCC opponents. Including the playoffs Endicott went 13-0 against CCC schools and in that span the Gulls posted a record of 39-2 in individual games, their only two losses coming against the University of New England.

The title is the second in the last three years for Endicott and winning the CCC sends the Gulls to the upcoming NCAA Tournament with an automatic bid. Opponents and game sites will be released later in the week; fans are encouraged to check ecgulls.com for updates.
