BEVERLY, MA - The Gulls continue to struggle to find their groove in the early going of the 2006 season as they lost to MIT in three games. EC fell 30-19, 30-21 and 30-22 to the Engineers, who swept Endicott and UMass-Boston in three games a piece.

EC fell behind in the first two games trailing by as many as 14-points. The Gulls battled back thanks to the strong play of junior Beth Dow, who had two aces and two blocks, and sophomore Brittany Nolan who added four aces and 23 digs.

The Gulls would keep things close in the third and final match, twice going on three point runs, before eventually falling 30-22. The Gulls were with out two key players but got strong performances from freshmen Steph Wiese who had 7 kills, junior Meghan Hall dished out 21 assists and had 13 digs, along with sophomore Casey Ward who added 11 digs to the effort.

With the loss EC drops to 0-5 on the season. The Gulls return home on Saturday to play hosts for the Endicott Invitational. EC will take on Keene State, CCC rivals Salve Regina and Eastern Connecticut State.
