Women’s Track & Field Opens 2020 Season At BU Meet

BOSTON, Mass. – The Endicott women's track and field team opened up its 2020 season on Friday night at the David Hemery Valentine Invite, hosted by Boston University. Today's meet featured student-athletes from all three NCAA Divisions.

Nicole D'Angelo (Readfield, Maine) highlighted the Gulls' efforts on the day with a 35th place finish in the shot put behind a New England Regional qualifying toss of 37-feet and 1.25-inches.

The distance for D'Angelo this early in the season is significant as it fell just under a foot shy of her program record and NCAA Outdoor Regionals qualifying mark of 38-0.25 that she set on April 5, 2019 at the Regis Spring Classic.

Meanwhile, Endicott also saw Jordan Williams (Boxford, Mass.), Gabrielle Morton (Peabody, Mass.), Alexa Flewelling (Peabody, Mass.), and Jayna Costello (Peabody, Mass.) all compete in the 200-meter dash. Williams posted an indoor program record time of 27.68 (259th), while Morton (28.85, 286th), Flewelling (28.88, 288th, personal record), and Costello (30.58, 294th) followed in respective order.

Amanda Recupero (Ipswich, Mass.) rounded out the list of highlights for the Gulls with a time of 1:05.10 in the 400-meter dash (207th overall).

"It was an excellent start to the season today. We went into it trying to evaluate our fitness and we are now able to use that experience going forward," said Endicott women's track and field head coach Spencer Lange. "We improved from last year, saw a few personal records (PRs), a school record, and Nicole hit the New England standard in the shot put. We will have a lot of work to do but it was great to see them represent Endicott well out there."
