Women's Tennis Tops Holy Cross, 4-3

WORCESTER, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Holy Cross, 4-3, on Monday evening at the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility.

Tonight's match was played in conjunction with NCAA Division I rules which only awards one point for winning the doubles portion of the match (best of three equals one point). This is in contrast to NCAA Division III rules which awards one point for each doubles flight won by a team.

Endicott was able to take a 1-0 lead after doubles with an 8-2 win at No. 2 by the team of Cara McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) and Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.), and an 8-2 win at No. 3 by the duo of Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) and Ashley Keaveney (Exeter, N.H.)

In singles play, McCormack won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 and Berler triumphed 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 to give the Gulls a 3-0 lead, at the time.

Meanwhile, Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) followed shortly after with a hard-fought 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6) victory at No. 2 to clinch the match.
