Southern New Hampshire Tops Women's Tennis, 5-2

HOOKSETT, N.H. – The Endicott women's tennis team lost to Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), 5-2, on Sunday evening at the SNHU Tennis Courts at Penmen Stadium.

Today's match was played in conjunction with NCAA Division I and II rules which only awards one point for winning the doubles portion of the match (best of 3, one point). This is in contrast to NCAA Division III rules which awards one point for each doubles flight won by a team.

The Gulls claimed a hard fought win at No. 3 doubles thanks to the pairing of Cameron Foley (Lynnfield, Mass.) / Jennifer Stone (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) by a score of 7-6 (7-2).  However, the Penmen earned victories at the No. 1 (6-1) and No. 2 (6-1) flights to take a 1-0 lead headed into singles play.

In singles, Endicott notched two tough and dominant victories on the day via Cara McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) and Clare O'Keefe (Luts, Fla.) at the No. 6 (6-1, 6-3) and No. 5 (7-5, 1-6, 10-7) spots, respectively. Ultimately, SNHU rattled off four straight wins at the No. 2 (6-1, 6-0), No. 3 (6-1, 6-2), No. 4 (6-1, 6-1), and No. 1 (6-4, 6-0) flights to clinch the match.
