Nichols Tops Endicott, 6-3

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team fell to Nichols College on Saturday evening by a 6-3 score at the South Campus Tennis Courts.

Nichols came out of doubles with a 2-1 advantage via victories at the No. 1 (8-0) and No. 2 (8-5) positions and then used wins at the No. 1 (6-1, 6-0), No. 2 (6-4, 6-3), and No. 5 (6-2, 6-3) singles flights to the clinch the match.

Meanwhile, Endicott saw the doubles pairing of Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.) / Reilly Fitzgibbons (Killingworth, Conn.) earn a hard-fought 8-6 triumph at No. 3, while Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Fernanda Trevino (Dallas, Texas) won at the No. 3 (7-5, 5-7, 10-6) and No. 4 (3-6, 6-2, 6-1) singles flights, respectively.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Today's match decided the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the upcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament.
  • Both teams entered today's match at 6-0 in the conference standings.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (11-1, 6-1 CCC) will host the winner of No. 3 Gordon and No. 6 Western New England in the CCC Semifinals on Tuesday, October 16 at a time to be determined later. Nichols (11-0, 7-0 CCC) will host the winner of No. 4 Salve Regina and No. 5 Roger Williams on Tuesday, October 16 in the CCC Semifinals at a time to be determined later.
