Women’s Tennis Topples Salve Regina, 9-0

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Endicott women's tennis team posted a 9-0 conference victory over Salve Regina University on Thursday evening at the Leroy Avenue Courts.

Endicott made quick work of the Seahawks in doubles play as the No. 2 and No. 3 pairings of Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.) / Margot Andreasen (Portland, Maine) and Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.) / Reilly Fitzgibbons (Killingworth, Conn.) registered back-to-back 8-0 wins to start the match.

The Gulls' No. 1 pairing of Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Fernanda Trevino (Dallas, Texas) then went on to wrap up the sweep moments later with an 8-1 triumph.

Meanwhile, singles action included wins in respective order at the following flights: No. 5 (6-2, 6-3), No. 6 (6-2, 6-1), No. 2 (6-1, 6-1), No. 3 (6-4, 6-1), No. 4 (6-0, 6-2) and No. 1 (6-2, 4-6, 10-4). Alexandra Barmore (Southington, Conn.), Alexi Losano (Saugus, Mass.), Barnett, Fitzgibbons, Gillian Freter (Scituate, Mass.) and Hoover were all responsible for the previously mentioned wins, in that order.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott has defeated Salve Regina by a 9-0 score in every regular season meeting for the last six years.

Endicott (6-0, 3-0 CCC) hosts Roger Williams this Saturday at 12 PM. Salve Regina (2-2, 1-2 CCC) visits Western New England this Saturday at 12 PM.
