DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College women's tennis team ended Endicott's five-year Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) title run on Monday afternoon with a 5-0 victory in the conference championship match at the Robinson Tennis Courts.
Nichols opened the match by taking both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles flights by identical 8-3 scores before earning a hard-fought 9-8 (7-2) win at No. 1. The Bison then turned that momentum into a 6-2, 6-2 victory at the No. 6 singles position, and a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at No. 1 to earn their second CCC championship in program history (2010, 2016).
Prior to today's loss, Endicott had won five consecutive CCC titles (2011-15), which marks the second longest streak in the conference behind Salve Regina University's run of six straight titles from 1989-94.
During their five-year title streak, the Gulls went 78-24 overall, 37-3 in conference play, and also notched three NCAA Tournament victories in their five appearances over that span.
