Women’s Tennis Downs Salve Regina, 9-0

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Endicott women's tennis team bested Salve Regina University, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup at the Antone Academic Center.

Seniors Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) and Jamie Zompa (Marlborough, Mass.), and sophomores Margot Andreasen (Portland, Maine), Alexandra Barmore (Southington, Conn.), and Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.) all were double winners for the Gulls, while Lauren Rahr (Waterford, Conn.) and Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) picked up victories in singles and doubles play, respectively.

As a team, Endicott only dropped eight games in singles, and six games in doubles.

"That was a terrific win for the Gulls today to climb over .500 for the season," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "We are looking forward to some more CCC competition against Curry on Tuesday."

  • Bergstein and Rhodes earned an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Barnett and Andreasen turned in an identical score at the No. 2 position.
  • Bergstein and Rhodes have the most wins as a doubles pairing this season with four.

  • Barmore and Andreasen picked up straight set victories at No. 6, and No. 3 singles, respectively.
