CCC Athletes of the Week - Week Ending September 15th
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) won the CCC's Rookie of the Week award for the second time this season after accumulating a 4-1 overall record in both singles and doubles combined. Rhodes' effort helped Endicott to a 2-1 record this week with both wins coming against conference opponents.
Endicott earned CCC victories over Curry (W, 9-0) and Gordon (W, 8-1) at home while dropping a non-conference match on the road to NEWMAC foe Babson (2-7).
Rhodes won both of her singles matches in straight set as she beat her Colonels opposition 6-0, 6-1 and her Scots counterpart 6-3, 6-1 in the #5 position. In doubles action with teammate Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) in the #2 spot, Rhodes shutout Curry 8-0, nearly upset her Babson opponents in a 9-7 loss, and won 8-4 over Gordon.
Rhodes and the rest of the Endicott women's tennis team will be back in action this week at Western New England on Wednesday, September 18th.
