CCC WOMEN'S SOCCER TOURNAMENT BRACKET
BIDDEFORD, Maine - In Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's soccer quarterfinal action on Saturday, the No. 7 seeded Gulls of Endicott fell to the No. 2 seeded Nor'Easters of the University of New England (UNE) by a 1-0 final. Endicott, now, 9-5-5, bows out of the CCC tournament, while the University of New England improves to 10-5-3 and advances to host No. 3 Curry on Tuesday.
The two teams would see their respective defensive units shine on the night as both withstood every offensive surge and kept the match scoreless late into the second half. The Nor'Easters mounted a late charge as they were awarded a corner kick in the 89th minute (88:20). The hosts had their first attempt get cleared out of bounds, but were able to earn a second corner at the 88:35 mark. Once launched into the box and in the midst of traffic, the Nor'Easters placed a glancing shot from right to left in the box that beat the Endicott back line and gave UNE the 1-0 edge as time continued to run.
Endicott then took possession and was able to get down the right wing and swing a pass into the box but the threat was thwarted as time ran out, as the Nor'Easters held on for the 1-0 win.
