MILTON, Mass. - Behind an offensive performance in which four different members of the team recorded goals, the Endicott women's soccer team claimed a 4-2 win over Curry in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday night. The win lifts Endicott to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in CCC play, while Curry falls to 6-6 overall and 1-2 in CCC play.

The Gulls got the scoring underway in the 33rd minute when senior Hailey Demers (Charlton, Mass.) scored her first of the season. Demers' goal would be the only tally of the half as Endicott's defense cracked down and limited the Colonels to seven shots, five of which were on goal and saved by Kayla Wentworth (Taunton, Mass.). The Gulls finished the opening frame with 11 total shots, six of which were on goal.

The second half be a much different story for both offenses as the two teams combined for four goals in the final 45 minutes. Endicott senior Hannah Pesci (Windham, N.H.) would extend the lead to two in the 55th minute when she buried a feed from Gabriella Prisco (West Haven, Conn.)

Curry was able to get on the board just over five minutes later and trimmed the lead to 2-1 in favor of Endicott before the Gulls responded in the 63rd minute to re-establish the two-goal lead. Prisco was on the scoring end this time, scoring her second of the season at the 62:38 mark of the second half.

The Colonels would make one more threat, cutting the lead to one again with 63:21 having passed. The Gulls would then almost immediately respond, scoring 1:23 later when Catherine Elkas (Holden, Mass.) scored her second of the year to put Endicott ahead 4-2 for good. Elkas was assisted by Jillian Presser (Trumbull, Conn.) as the Gulls posted a season-best four goals in the win.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is now 23-2 all-time against Curry. The Gulls have won 15 straight in the series, out-scoring the Colonels 55-10 over that stretch.
  • Pesci's goal was her fourth of the season, which ties her for the team lead. She has now registered 10 points or more in all four years of her Endicott career.
