Endicott Falls to Salve Regina 2-1 in CCC Opener

NEWPORT, R.I. - In the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener for both schools, the Endicott women's soccer team fell to Salve Regina by a 2-1 final on Saturday to move to 4-3 overall on the season, and 0-1 in CCC play.

The Gulls got the scoring started early, scoring just over one minute into the contest, as Gabriella Prisco (West Haven, Conn.) tallied her first of the season. Prisco's shot came from the top of the box and was assisted by Chloe Waldron (Harwinton, Conn.) at the 1:09 mark to give Endicott the early 1-0 advantage.

The Seahawks would counter and eventually even the score at 1-1 in the 16th minute, a score that would hold true through halftime. At the half, Endicott held a 7-5 advantage in shots and a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Salve Regina would then grab a 2-1 edge in the 58th minute to finish the scoring in the match.

Endicott finished the match with a 17-10 advantage in shots, while Salve Regina held a 6-3 advantage in saves.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The loss to the Seahawks snaps a five-game win-streak for the Gulls in the series, as prior to Saturday, Salve Regina last won on October 24, 2015.
  • The Gulls are now 24-3-1 against the Seahawks in the all-time series which dates back to 1996.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (4-3, 0-1) will play host to Babson on Tuesday in non-conference action, while Salve Regina (4-3, 1-0) will play host to UMass Dartmouth.
