Cheney & Caponigro Score to Lead Endicott to 2-0 Win over Lasell

BEVERLY, Mass. - Behind goals from Madeleine Cheney (Bow, N.H.) and Jaymie Caponigro (Swampscott, Mass.) the Endicott women's soccer team took down Lasell 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Gulls improved to 2-0 on the season.

Cheney got the Gulls on the board first in the 32nd minute when she scored on a feed from Hannah Lederman (Natick, Mass.). The right-footed strike gave the Gulls the 1-0 edge, an advantage that would hold true through the first half. Endicott's defense stifled the Lasell attack in the first half, holding the visitors to one lone shot on goal, while allowing the Endicott offense to counter and post nine.

The second half would prove to be a bit more physical as both teams would be whistled for nine fouls. The lone tally of the second half would come from Caponigro. The midfielder buried her first goal in an Endicott uniform off a free kick roughly 35 yards out to make the score 2-0. The Gulls would then continue to shut down the Laser's attack to clinch the 2-0 win.
