Mucher and Cheney Lift Endicott to 3-0 Win Over Salem St.

Madeline Mucher makes a move to get around two defenders.

SALEM, Mass. - The Endicott women's soccer team traveled across the harbor to take on North Shore rival Salem St. on Monday night and returned home victorious, winning by a 3-0 final. With the win, Endicott improves to 7-4-4 on the season while Salem St. falls to 3-9-0.

Endicott would strike first, scoring late in the first half as freshman Madeline Mucher (Andover, Mass.) scored her first collegiate goal. Mucher's tally at the 42:19 mark of the first gave the Gulls the 1-0 advantage at the break. Endicott out-shot Salem St. 8-3 in the first half, including a 6-1 edge in shots on goal.

The second half would see the Gulls, specifically, Madeleine Cheney (Bow, N.H.), score twice. Cheney, who scored her first goal in an Endicott uniform in the team's 1-0 overtime win over Wentworth on Saturday, made it two in as many matches in the 69th minute. The junior was able to score off a Gabriella Prisco (West Haven, Conn.) pass to give the Gulls the 2-0 edge mid-way through the second.

Cheney would then strike again in the 80th minute, scoring off a Jillian Presser (Trumbull, Conn.) feed. Cheney's third of the season gave Presser her first assist of the campaign as the Gulls extended their win streak to three.

Keeper Kayla Wentworth (Taunton, Mass.) would make three saves to earn her sixth shutout of the season and improve her record to 7-4-4.

  • Mucher's goal made her the fourth player to record their first career goal for the Blue and Green in 2018, as she joins Cheney, Presser and fellow freshman Hannah Lejeune (Danvers, Mass.).
