2017-18 UNITED SOCCER COACHES TEAM ACADEMIC AWARD RECIPIENT LIST
KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The Endicott women's soccer team has been awarded the United Soccer Coaches College Women's Team Academic Award for the ninth consecutive year as announced by the United Soccer Coaches on Thursday morning.
The United Soccer Coaches annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field. A total of 773 soccer teams (289 men, 484 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award for the 2017-18 academic year. This list included 191 collegiate programs that had both their men's and women's programs among the recipients, of which Endicott was one.
Endicott women's soccer Head Coach Jodi Kenyon had this to say about the team's honor:
"Our women continue to exemplify their work ethic in everything they do on campus. That determination and commitment is exemplified in the academic performance of our program. It is my belief that the work ethic and discipline carry over onto all areas of our players' lives. From their classroom performance to success at internship sites, eventually culminating in their successes post-graduation in their careers, our women take pride in being leaders in our community."
Endicott's women's soccer team has earned this distinction 11 times (2007, 2008, 2010-2018) since the award was instituted in 1996 and placed 18 student-athletes on the 2017 Academic All-CCC team.
The program's record over the last nine seasons in which they have received this award is an impressive 121-53-19 overall and 70-15-4 in conference play as the team has also claimed two CCC titles, two NCAA Second Round appearances, four CCC finals appearances and an ECAC DIII New England Championship.
The Gulls finished the 2017 season with a 13-5-1 record overall that saw the team fall in the CCC semifinals 2-1 in double-overtime. Throughout the run of nine consecutive NSCAA Team Academic Awards, the Gulls have placed 90 student-athletes on the CCC Academic All-Conference teams while seeing four individuals receive CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District teams, with one individual reciving Second Team All-American honors.
