Endicott Falls to Roger Williams 1-0 on Homecoming Weekend

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's soccer team fell to Roger Williams 1-0 on Homecoming Weekend in their first defeat of the 2016 campaign. With the setback, Endicott falls to 6-1-1 (2-1-0 CCC) while Roger Williams, winners of their last two, improves to 2-5-2 (1-0-2 CCC).

The two squads would play a scoreless half that saw the two squads post nearly equal shot totals with Roger Williams holding a slight 5-4 advantage in shots while neither team would earn a corner. The Hawks played a physical half, recording nine fouls to just three for the Gulls.

The second half saw the two teams battle for another 18 minutes before the lone goal of the contest would occur. The Hawks capitalized on a unique scenario in which they were awarded a free kick just a foot outside the box. Missy Andrade (Glastonbury, Conn.) would take the kick and capitalize to lift the Hawks to a 1-0 lead.

That would stand until the final whistle as the only goal of the contest as Roger Williams recorded their first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) win of the season.

BEYOND THE BOX

  • Hannah Pesci (Windham, N.H.) and Paige Pratt (Topsfield, Mass.) led the team with three total shots each while Pratt led the team with two shots on goal.
  • Goalie Caroline Armbruster (Stowe, Vt.) would make three saves on the night.
  • This is the first matchup between the two programs that has not played into at least one overtime period since 2012 as four of the previous five matches had advanced to double overtime or a shootout.
  • Endicott is now 16-10-4 all-time against Roger Williams.

FOR THE FOES

  • For Andrade, the goal was the third of her career as she now has a goal in each of the last three seasons.
  • Keeper Natalie O'Donovan (Quincy, Mass.) made six save in the win and has now won back-to-back decisions as she claimed her first of the season on Thursday in the team's 4-0 win over Emmanuel.
  • Jordyn Labriola (Hopkinton, Mass.) led the Hawks with three total shots, one of which was on goal.
