Beverly, MA-- In the first round of the NCAA playoffs, the EC Gulls fell to the Ephs of Williams College, 3-1. The Gulls finish their season with a 16-5 record.

The Gulls came out fired up, putting early pressure on the Ephs' defense. Williams fought back with an early goal in the 12th minute. Twenty minutes later, the Ephs struck again, adding to their lead going into halftime.

Play shifted back and forth at the beginning of the second half, but it was the Ephs who found the net in the 56th minute, capping their score at three. The Gulls did not give up, and continued to attack the Ephs' defense. In the 83rd minute, Stacey Lubas found Jillian Zagura open on the sideline. Blasting a shot from 30-yard out, Zagura scored the Gulls only goal of the game, with a perfectly placed ball into the opposite top corner.

The Ephs advance on to the next round of the NCAA Tournament, where they face Wheaton College this Saturday.

Five seniors finished their EC soccer career today. Three out of their four years, the team won the Commonwealth Coast Conference Title and advanced to the NCAA's. Sarah Nichols, Stacey Lubas, Lauren Suarez, Leah Walters and Katrina Perkins will be missed next year as the Gulls look to win their 3rd consecutive CCC title.
