Women's Soccer Wins Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship

Beverly, MA--The women's soccer team defeated Wentworth 2-1, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Final. The two teams have played each other eight times, and EC has never lost to Wentworth.

The Gulls were on the scoreboard first, when sophomore Jillian Zagura found side netting in the 13th minute of play with a shot from 20 yards out. The Leopards scored at the 20 minute mark, to tie the game at one all. The score would remain the same through half time.

With only five minutes into the second half, freshman Caitlin D'Amario would score the game-winner. Off of a cross from forward Leah Walters, D'Amario shot the ball past the Wentworth goalkeeper to give EC the 2-1 lead. That was all EC needed to win the game, and earn the title of Conference Champions.

Going undefeated in the CCC, EC was named regular season champions, and the team holds a record of 2-0-1 in Conference Playoffs. This is the teams 3rd Commonwealth Coast Conference title in the past five years and 4th Conference title in the programs' history. Their overall record is 17-2-2. With the win, the Gulls earn an automatic berth in NCAA play, which begins Wednesday November 12th.
