Women’s Rugby Places Second At Providence 7s Tournament

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Endicott club women's rugby team finished second overall at the Providence College 7s Tournament this past Friday.

Endicott opened the tournament with a 24-10 over Wheaton (Mass.) before tying the University of New Hampshire, 12-12, and thumping Providence, 43-5. The Gulls then fell to Bryant University, 32-7, and again in the tournament's championship game, 14-10.

Amanda Poulin (Turner, Maine) paced Endicott offensively with six tries and one field goal (drop goal).

Meanwhile, Nicole McCardle (Castleton, Vt.) had four tries, Gianna D'Aprile (Millis, Mass.) notched two tries, and Sophia Hatzis (West Roxbury, Mass.), Samantha Hontas (Lyme, N.H.), and Morgan Salvi (Wyckoff, N.J.) all recorded one try apiece. Kelsey Joyce (Wharton, N.J.) also chipped in with three conversions.

Endicott returns to action on Saturday, April 7 at the UMass Lowell 7s Tournament.
