Gulls Dominant In Season Opener Against Wentworth

BOSTON, Mass. – The Endicott women's club rugby team traveled to Wentworth on Saturday defeating the Leopards 41-17. The match marked the Gulls first Colonial Coast Rugby Conference (CCRC) match of the season. Endicott sits at 1-0 on the season as it looks to Sunday, September 25th when they host Eastern Connecticut State University.

The Gulls jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and continued that run finishing the first half up 26-0 despite several key injuries in the opening half. Coming out strong in the second half, Wentworth was able to respond and get on the board with two scores to narrow the Gulls lead. Despite the late effort, the Gulls were able to earn a decisive victory with a final score of 41-17.

"We had lots of good individual play today with great runs from our back line and support from our forwards," said Endicott women's rugby head coach Emily Record. "This week we are going to work on our continuity as a team"

The Gulls saw significant contributions from freshman fly half Nicole McCardle (Castleton, V.T.) and senior Shelby Stevenson (South Dennis, Mass.)

Endicott will take the field next on Sunday, October 25th as they host Eastern Connecticut State University for a 12:00 p.m. matchup at Hempstead Stadium.
