Women's Lacrosse Sweeps CCC Weekly Awards

A trio of Gulls earn CCC women's lacrosse weekly awards for the conference sweep this week!

SPRINGFIELD, Mass— The Endicott's women's lacrosse team celebrated winning its 10th Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship on Saturday; therefore, the Gulls secured a sweep of CCC weekly awards for the second time this season as announced today by the conference office.

CCC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Senior midfielder Emily Whitney (Rye, N.H.) led the Gulls with 13 points (six goals, seven assists) on the week through two postseason contests. Whitney, a three-time honoree this season, also scooped up four ground balls, won three draw controls, and caused two turnovers on the week. Whitney's all-round effort proved to be a pinnacle piece of the Gulls' success, book-ending her career as a CCC Champion.

CCC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Sophomore goalkeeper Bella Rino (Northborough, Mass.) improved to 10-1 in goal this season, as she went a perfect 10-0 against conference foes as an instrumental part of Endicott's success all season long. Rino, a three-time honoree this season, made 13 saves on the week as a CCC Champion. She sported a 4.01 goals against average to finish as the conference's leader with the fewest goals against (61), goals against average (5.51), and save percentage (61.6) on the year.

CCC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Freshman midfielder Jennifer Lacroix (Wrentham, Mass.), the CCC's Rookie of the Year and CCC Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season, contributed four points (one goal, three assists) and won 10 draw controls to help the Gulls maintain possession to score early and often, especially in the CCC Championship.

WHAT'S NEXT

As the CCC's automatic bid winner, the Gulls (14-4) will take on Farmingdale State (17-1) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, May 13 in Ewing, N.J. on the campus of No. 1 nationally ranked The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) at a time to be determined later.
