Gulls Open Season With First Ever Win Over MIT

The Gulls opened their season today away at MIT, and came away with the program's first win against the Engineers. With two seconds left in first-half action, the Gulls held a commanding lead of 7-1. Junior midfielder Christine Wilmott (Barre, VT) exploded for eight of the Gulls fifteen goals in the 15-10 victory.

The Gulls played a complete game against MIT, utilizing players at both ends of the field. Six different players scored for EC on offense. In addition to Wilmott's team-high eight goals, senior captain Katie White (Ridgefield, CT) and freshman Lindsey O'Connell (Mansfield, MA) contributed two apiece. Also scoring for the Gulls were Hannah Watson (Fr/Shaftsbury, VT), Susie Neikirk (So/Scotia, NY) and Cathy Sharp (So/Rutland, VT).

Katie Tevella had an outstanding game in goal stopping 13 of MIT's 23 shots on cage.

The Gulls travel to Bermuda on Saturday where their next opponent will be Connecticut College. The Gulls take the field Sunday, March 14 at National Stadium to improve their record to 2-0.
