Women’s Ice Hockey Places 10 On AHCA All-American Scholars List

AHCA ALL-AMERICAN SCHOLARS RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's ice hockey team placed 10 student-athletes on the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American Scholars List.

The Gulls are represented on the list by Nicole Demers (Avon, Conn), Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.), Madison Huber (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Ashley Keaveney (Exeter, N.H.), Emma McDowell (Alexandria, Va.), Jade Meier (Fairbanks, Alaska), Michaela O'Brien (Pembroke, Mass.), Alexa Pretkelis (Crystal Lake, Ill.), Courtney Sullivan (North Yarmouth, Maine), and Bailey Thieben (North Syracuse, N.Y.).

Meanwhile, for Meier, this is her second honor from the AHCA this season as she was voted an All-American earlier this year. Meier is now the first student-athlete in program history to earn AHCA All-American and All-American Scholars honors in the same season.

To be eligible for the AHCA All-American Scholars List, student-athletes must meet the following criteria:

• Must have achieved a 3.75 GPA in the first semester.

• Must have appeared in 40% of the season's total games.

• Waivers were heard for back-up goalies and student-athletes who fell shy of 40% due to injury.

• School must be a paid member of the AHCA for 2019-20.

YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott went 25-2 overall and 16-0 in CHC play. The Gulls captured their second straight CHC championship with a 4-1 win over UNE on March 7. This season the Gulls set regular-season records for overall wins, and conference wins and earned their highest-ever national ranking of No. 7. Endicott was scheduled to take on Middlebury in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III women's ice hockey tournament, but the game was canceled as the NCAA made the decision to cancel all NCAA winter and spring championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
