Women's Hockey Tops Salve Regina, 5-3

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. — The Endicott women's hockey team defeated Salve Regina, 5-3, on Saturday afternoon at St. George's School Ice Rink. 

The Gulls scored two goals in the first three minutes of the game, Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) opened the scoring making it 1-0 at 0:28 and Michaela McNamara (Warwick, R.I.) made it 2-0 with a power play goal at 2:55. 

Courtney Sullivan (North Yarmouth, Maine.) gave the Gulls two leads in the second period making it 3-2 at 1:16 of the second then making it 4-3 on the power play at 8:45. Jacy Kuhlman (Severna Park, Md.) rounded out the Endicott scoring making it 5-3 at 7:42 of the third period. 

Meanwhile, Bailey Thieben (North Syracuse, N.Y.) made 15 saves to improve to 2-0-0 on the season. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • Today's contest was played for Angela Augusta, who is a 2019 graduate of Salve Regina and was a four-year member of the women's ice hockey program. Shortly after graduating, Angela was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, which is a blood cancer that attacks the body's immune system, It is Angela's mission through creating the fundraising organization "Angela's Army" that she and others will be able to raise awareness Hodgkin's Lymphoma and give back to cancer patients who cannot afford certain health care expenses. Angela attended the game and conducted a ceremonial puck drop before the game.   • Endicott now leads the all-time series over Salve 7-0-2. 

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (7-1-0, 6-0-0 CHC) will host Williams College on Tuesday, November 26 at 7 PM. Salve Regina (1-5-0, 1-3-0 CHC) will travel to Wesleyan on Tuesday, November 26 at 7 PM.
