Women’s Ice Hockey Downs Salve Regina, 4-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated Salve Regina, 4-1, on Saturday night in conference action at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

Trailing 1-0 after one period of play, Jade Meier (Fairbanks, Alaska) evened up the score at one-all with a second-chance effort from the slot for her third goal of the season.

From there, both teams remained deadlocked until the third period when Endicott buried three additional unanswered tallies over 10:58 span to put the game away for good.

Ashlie Jones (Billerica, Mass.) gave the Gulls their first lead of the matchup at the 1:15 mark of the period, while Lauren Ferraiuolo (North Haven, Conn.) and Meier followed with tallies at 8:10 and 12:13, respectively.  

Meanwhile, in goal, Michaela O'Brien (Pembroke, Mass.) stopped 13 shots to improve to 2-0-0 on the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott pushed its record to 6-0-2 in the all-time series against Salve Regina with tonight's win.
  • The Gulls are 4-0-0 at home this season.
  • Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) recorded her first two-assist game of the year (sixth assist overall in 19-20).
  • Madison Hentosh (Peabody, Mass.) notched her first career collegiate point with the primary assist on Ferraiuolo's goal.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (6-1-0, 5-0-0 CHC) will travel to Salve Regina (1-4-0, 1-2-0 CHC) tomorrow to complete the home-and-home series with the Seahawks at 2 PM.

More importantly, tomorrow's contest will be played for Angela Augusta, who is a 2019 graduate of Salve Regina and was a four-year member of the women's ice hockey program. It is Angela's mission through creating the fundraising organization "Angela's Army" that she and others will be able to raise awareness Hodgkin's Lymphoma and give back to cancer patients who cannot afford certain health care expenses.

Angela plans to attend the game and conduct a ceremonial puck drop before the game. Both teams will wear bracelets during the game in support of Angela's Army and the women's ice hockey team will be selling bracelets and t-shirts at a table next to the stands. Fans coming to the game are encouraged to wear their Salve Regina gear along with some purple in support of the cause.
