Vendela Jonsson Earns New England Hockey Writers’ Association All-Region Honors

2018-19 NEW ENGLAND HOCKEY WRITERS' ASSOCIATION ALL-REGION LIST

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott women's ice hockey student-athlete Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) has claimed New England Hockey Writers' Association All-Region honors, as announced by the organization earlier this week.

Jonsson was a major contributor to the Gulls' 2018-19 Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) championship run as the senior goaltender posted an 11-4-4 record, a 1.17 goals against average (seven shutouts), and a .950 save percentage in 19 games played (1174:52).

Among conference goaltenders, Jonsson led the league in goals against (23), goals against average (1.17) and winning percentage (.684), while she also ranked sixth in saves (435), second in save percentage (.950) and third in wins (11).

Meanwhile, nationally, Jonsson ranked sixth in goals against average and save percentage, 19th in winning percentage, and fourth in shutouts.

2018-19 YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott, who concluded the year ranked No. 10 in the final D3hockey.com national poll, posted a 19-5-4 overall record and 9-2-1 mark in league play en route to winning the CHC Championship over Morrisville State, 1-0, in overtime. The Gulls then went on to lose to No. 2/2 Plattsburgh State in their first-ever NCAA Tournament game on March 6 despite a program record 48 save effort from Jonsson in goal.
