2018-19 CHC ALL-CONFERENCE RELEASE
BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's ice hockey team saw eight members named to the Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) All-Conference teams with three winning major awards, as announced by the conference office Thursday afternoon. Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) was tabbed as Goaltender of the Year and First Team All-Conference. Courtney Sullivan (North Yarmouth, Maine) was named Rookie of the Year and to the All-Rookie Team and Head Coach Andrew McPhee earned Coach of the Year honors. Senior Ellen Carter (Roseville, Minn.) earned a spot on the First Team, while Caroline Hughes (Andover, Mass.) and Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) were named to the Second Team and Lexi Klein (Shoreview, Minn.) and Lauren Ferraiuolo (North Haven, Conn.) rounded out the honors with Third Team accolades.
Voting for All-Conference teams was done by the league's head coaches and included only conference statistics.
GOALTENDER OF THE YEAR/ FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE
Vendela Jonsson | Sr. | GK | Linkoping, Sweden
Jonsson went 5-1-1 in conference play with four shutouts, five goals allowed, a GAA of 0.71, and a .965 save percentage. Overall this season, she has a 9-3-4 record with a 1.10 GAA and a .950 save percentage. Jonsson earned CHC Goaltender of the Week honors twice this season (11/5/18, 2/11/19) and previously earned CHC All-Conference honors in her career as 2015-16 CHC Co-Rookie of the Year, 2015-16 CHC All-Conference Second Team, 2015-16 CHC All-Rookie Team, and 2016-17 CHC All-Conference Second Team.
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR/ ALL-ROOKIE TEAM
Courtney Sullivan | Fr. | Forward | North Yarmouth, Maine
Sullivan recorded five goals and three assists for eight points in 12 conference games which tied for first in rookie scoring in the league. She led the team in game-winning goals (3), was second in goals, and tied for fourth in points. Overall she tallied 10 goals and six assists for 16 points in 25 appearances. Sullivan was named CHC Rookie of the Week five times this season (11/12/18, 12/10/18, 1/21/19, 2/4/19, 2/11/19).
COACH OF THE YEAR
McPhee is in his fifth year of coaching the Endicott women's ice hockey team (four years varsity, one year club) and led the Gulls to a 9-2-1 conference record this season and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CHC Tournament. In the past four years as a varsity program, the Gulls are 72-21-11 (.745) overall with McPhee at the helm.
CHC FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE
Ellen Carter | Sr. | Defense | Roseville, Minn.
Carter was a key member of a strong Endicott defense that allowed only eight goals against during conference play. She also helped out on the offensive end of the ice, as she tallied six points on two goals and four assists during the regular season. This is Carter's fourth All-Conference honor, as she was awarded First Team honors in 2017-18 and Second Team accolades in both 2015-16 and 2016-17.
CHC SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE
Jillian Gibbs | Jr. | Forward | Burlington, Vt.
Gibbs was Endicott's leading goal scorer in conference play with six tallies, three of which came on the powerplay. Overall on the season, she led the team in goals (10), assists (11) and points (21). This is Gibb's third All-Conference award as she was named to the First Team in 2017-18 and to the All-Rookie Team in 2016-17.
Caroline Hughes | Sr. | Forward | Andover, Mass.
Hughes tallied four goals and seven assists for 11 points in 12 conference games. Overall on the season, she had six goals and 10 assists for 16 points which tied her for third on the team in points. This is Hughes' first career All-Conference honor.
CHC THIRD TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE
Lexi Klein | Sr. | Forward | Shoreview, Minn.
Klein contributed three goals and six assists for nine points in CHC play this season. Overall in 25 games played she has amassed eight goals and nine assists for 17 points. Klein now has four All-Conference honors in her career as she previously was named to the 2016-17 Second Team, the 2015-16 Second Team, and the 2015-16 All-Rookie Team.
Lauren Ferraiuolo | So. | Defense | North Haven, Conn.
Ferraiuolo had a major impact on defense this season for the Gulls as she was a key factor in the team allowing only eight goals against in CHC play. She also helped on the offensive end of the ice with three assists for three points in 12 conference contests.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott (17-4-4, 9-2-1 CHC) earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CHC Tournament. The Gulls will host the Semifinal and Championship rounds on March 2-3 at the Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
