Endicott Edges Castleton, 2-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott's Jade Meier (Fairbanks, Alaska) netted the eventual game-winner with time winding down in the third period as the Gulls skated to a 2-1 victory over Castleton University on Tuesday evening at the Raymond J. Bourque Arena. 

Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) collected the puck in the Endicott defensive end and dished a pass to Meier on the breakaway, who then beat the Castleton goaltender stick side for her third goal of the season. 

In the first frame, the Gulls saw a tally from Ellen Carter (Roseville, Minn.) with one second remaining on the clock. Castleton responded in the second period when Jade Remillard (Fairfield, Vt.) found the back of the net at the 11:34 mark to even the score at 1-1. 

Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) improved to 4-3-4 on the season in net with 10 saves, while Rylie Wills (Sioux Lookout, Ontario) was one save off from her career-high with 53 stops for the Spartans. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • Endicott holds a 2-0-0 advantage in the all-time series.  
  • The Gulls also held a 55-11 shot advantage throughout the game. 
  • Gibbs paced the offense with 10 shots while Caroline Hughes (Andover, Mass.) and Courtney Sullivan (North Yarmouth, Maine) each had six. 
  • Aimee Briand (Barrington, N.H.) and Samantha Munroe (Framingham, Mass.) earned assists on the Castleton goal.

Endicott (10-3-4) travels to Nichols for a 6:40 PM Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) matchup on Friday, January 25. Castleton (4-12-2) hosts No. 4/6 Norwich on January 25 at 7 PM.
