UNE Defeats Endicott, 4-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's ice hockey team hosted the University of New England on Friday night for a conference matchup and the Gulls were handed a 4-1 loss. 

Endicott got on the board quickly with a tally from Caroline Hughes (Andover, Mass.) at the 1:33 mark of the first period. 

The Nor'easters responded just over five minutes later when Kenady Nevicosi (Breckenridge, Colo.) tied the game at 1-1. 

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second frame as both goaltenders came up with key saves. 

UNE took the lead 34 seconds into the third period and then extended that lead to 3-1 minutes later. 

With one second remaining in the period, Kyra Yu (Odgen, Utah) scored an empty-netter to secure the 4-1 win. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) recorded 22 saves in net and drops to 1-1-1 on the year. 
  • Lexi Klein (Shoreview, Minn.) earned the assist on the Endicott tally. 
  • Julia Benjamin (Tolland, Conn.) improved to 4-0-0 for the Nor'easters with 31 saves. 
  • The Gulls held a 32-26 shot advantage throughout the contest.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (1-1-1, 0-1-0 CHC) travels to the University of New England (4-0-0, 3-0-0 CHC) on Saturday, November 10 for a 7 PM conference contest.
