BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott women's ice hockey student-athletes Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) and Caroline Hughes (Andover, Mass.) recently traveled to the Czech Republic to participate in the Czech Hockey Challenge Cup for the North American (NA) Stars. The Czech Hockey Challenge Cup was held in Prague from August 8-11 and over 40 teams in several age groups competed.

Gibbs and Hughes competed against numerous European teams including S.A.D. Hielo Majadahonda of Spain and HC Litvínov of the Czech Republic as well as teams from the U.S. and Canada.

The NA Stars advanced to the Championship game of the tournament where they took home the silver medal.

Throughout the week, both Gibbs and Hughes contributed greatly on the ice, as Gibbs netted a goal and two assists and Hughes added an assist.

When not playing in the tournament, the two were able to enjoy the major sights and castles of Prague and even took a trip to the most famous crystal factory. At the factory in Prague, there is a crystal replica of the Stanley Cup from when Jaromír Jágr won while he was with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1991 and 1992.

Overall, "Prague was an amazing experience", said Gibbs, "and being able to travel and meet girls from across the country was a one of a kind opportunity."
