BEVERLY, Mass. - The semester-long internship is one of the essential pieces of Endicott's experiential learning model which includes two 120-hour internships, a semester-long internship, and senior thesis. In essence, it gets undergraduate students career ready with a loaded resume geared towards whatever their postgraduate endeavors may be.

Semester-Long Internship: Congressman Seth Moulton's District Office in Salem, Mass.
Previous Internships: Thomas E. Smith Foundation, iRobot Corporation

What inspired you to pursue an internship at this organization or what inspired you to go into the specific industry in which you are working?

I decided to pursue this internship opportunity because I saw it as a chance to learn first-hand how the government functions on a day to day basis. Additionally, Congressman Moulton has created a culture of service in his career and within our team and it truly shows in the work we do. Above all, this internship gives me a platform to try to help people and to make a difference.

What were some of your most meaningful experiences on the job and what did you learn?

One of the most valuable parts of this internship is it has given me the opportunity to have in-depth discussions with full-time staff members, including the Congressman's Chief of Staff, and Congressman Moulton himself, about how they started their careers and how they have progressed to their current position. The people I work with are willing to let me pick their brains so I have tried to be a complete sponge and absorb all of the information and learn from the experiences they have shared with me.

How did your internship help clarify your postgraduate career pursuits?

This internship has strengthened my desire to pursue a career where I have the ability to help others. I enjoy going into the office every day because I know the work I am doing is making an impact on people's lives. Specifically, my experience at Congressman Moulton's office has helped to solidify my desire to go to law school so I can further my education and continue to pursue a career that will allow me to have an impact on people's lives.

What advice would you give students that are either just starting the internship program at Endicott or students that will be going on semester-long internship?

The one piece of advice I can offer to students who are starting an internship is to make connections with the people you work with. The relationships you are able to form with both your fellow interns and the full-time employees will be incredibly valuable to you in the future.
