No. 10 Endicott Defeats Nichols, 5-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 10 Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated Nichols, 5-1, on Friday night at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

Leading the offensive charge for the Gulls was Lexi Klein (Shoreview, Minn.), who registered a hat-trick. Klein tallied a goal in each period of the game. 

Also scoring for Endicott were Jade Meier (Fairbanks, Alaska) and Caroline Hughes (Andover, Mass.)

Kelly Ferreira (North Falmouth, Mass.) netted the lone goal for Nichols to snap the shutout opportunity.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Alyssa Peterson (Cranberry Township, Pa.) improved to 2-0-0 on the season and recorded 12 saves.
  • Endicott is now 3-1 in the all-time series against Nichols.
  • Junior defensemen Ellen Carter (Roseville, Minn.) recorded her third multi-point game of the season by dishing out assists on Hughes' (5:48, 2nd period) and one of Klein's (7:58, 1st period) goals. 
  • Also earning assists on the night were Michaela McNamara (Warwick, R.I.), Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.), Alexa Pretkelis (Crystal Lake, Ill.), Lauren Ferraiuolo (North Haven, Conn.), Maggie Layo (Sandwich, Mass.) and Hughes.
  • Layo won a team-high 11 faceoffs.
  • Endicott held the 42-13 shot advantage.

FOR JOHNSON & WALES

  • Cassandra Goyette (Norton, Mass.) made 37 saves in the loss (2-3-0). 
  • Mel McAleer (Hanson, Mass.) led the team in shots with four.

WHAT'S NEXT 

No. 10 Endicott (5-0-1, 4-0-1 CHC) and Nichols (2-3-0, 2-3-0 CHC) finish the home-and-home series on Saturday, November 18 with a 7:40 p.m. contest at Levy Rink.
