No. 9 Endicott Defeats Salem State, 6-1

SALEM, Mass. – The No. 9 nationally ranked Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated Salem State, 6-1, on Friday night at Rockett Arena.

Ellen Carter (Roseville, Minn.) got the scoring started in the first period for the Gulls. Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) and Meaghan Farragher (Bridgewater, Mass.) earned the assists on the play. 

Lexi Klein (Shoreview, Minn.) put Endicott up 2-0 in the opening minutes of the third period and the Gulls never looked back as they went on to score four more goals in the remainder of the game. 

Maggie Layo (Sandwich, Mass.), Gibbs, Carter, and Klein tallied the rest of Endicott's goals in the third frame to secure the 6-1 victory. 

Scoring the lone goal for the Vikings was Casie Curtin (Wrentham, Mass.) at the 7:33 mark of the last period. 

Alyssa Peterson (Cranberry Township, Pa.) got the start in net and made eight saves throughout the game.

  • Sarah Plourde (Hooksett, N.H.) made 27 saves in the loss (0-1-0).
  • Danielle Kelley (Charlestown, Mass.) and Vanessa VanBuskirk (Winthrop, Mass.) assisted on Salem State's goal.
  • VanBuskirk and Jacqueline Sindoris (Charlestown, Mass.) paced the team in shots with two each.

No. 9 Endicott (3-0-0, 2-0-0 CHC) travels to Johnson & Wales (R.I.) for a conference game on Friday, Nov. 10 at 5:55 p.m. Salem State (0-2-0, 0-2-0 CHC) hosts Morrisville State at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10.
