Women’s Ice Hockey Falls To Morrisville State, 2-0, In Matchup Of Conference Unbeatens

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – In a matchup of Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) unbeatens, Morrisville State came out on top against Endicott College by a 2-0 score in game one of the weekend series at the IcePlex.

The Mustangs (17-2-1, 7-0-0 CHC) will host the Gulls (17-3-1, 8-1-0 CHC) in game two of the weekend set tomorrow at 2 PM.

Morrisville State netted both of its goals in the third period on tallies from Jessica Ujcik (Munich, Germany) and Maddison Devlin (Campbell River, British Columbia) at the 3:56 and 7:31 marks, respectively. Ujcik scored on a tip-in, while Devlin found the back of the net through a scrum near the crease.

Mustangs' netminder Renee Schmaltz (Beaumont, Alberta) registered 10 saves in the win (17-2-1), and Endicott goaltender Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) made 24 saves in the loss (11-2-1).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Despite the loss, Endicott still holds a 2-1-1 advantage in the all-time series versus Morrisville State. 
  • Maggie Layo (Sandwich, Mass.) went 10-for-16 in the faceoff circle.

FOR THE FOES

  • The Mustangs had three different student-athletes win eight faceoffs (Maria Dewilde, Vanessa Klimpke, Stephanie Strymecki).
  • Morrisville State is 7-1-1 at home this season, and our winners of its last three straight contests.
