Nicole Demers, Vendela Jonsson Earn Colonial Hockey Conference Weekly Awards

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott women's ice hockey student-athletes Nicole Demers (Avon, Conn.) and Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) have earned Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) Rookie of the Week and Goaltender of the Week accolades, respectively, for their efforts in games played from January 16-22. Maggie Layo (Sandwich, Mass.) was also named to the league's honor roll.

CHC WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS

Demers recorded one goal and two assists for three points in Endicott's 3-0-0 week. Against Bowdoin on Tuesday, Demers notched a single-game career-high two points on a pair of assists, while her goal against Trinity tied up the game at 1-1, and forced the eventual overtime frame.

Meanwhile, Jonsson earned a pair of wins over NESCAC opponents Bowdoin (5-1) and Trinity (2-1, OT). Jonsson compiled 62 saves, a 0.97 GAA, and a .969 save percentage in her two starts on the week, before the Gulls also picked up a 1-0 overtime win over Salem State University on Saturday.

CHC HONOR ROLL

Layo paced Endicott offensively with three goals in three games. The junior forward scored with eight seconds remaining in overtime against Salem State to give the Gulls their third straight victory on Saturday. She also netted two goals (including a power play tally) in Tuesday's victory against Bowdoin.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (15-2-1, 6-0-0 CHC) hosts SUNY Canton this weekend for a pair of conference games at Raymond J. Bourque Arena. The Gulls will take on the Kangaroos at 7 PM on Friday, and also at 2:30 PM on Saturday.
