Vendela Jonsson Named CHC Rookie Of The Week

CHC WEEKLY RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott freshman goaltender Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) has been named the Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league office earlier today.

Jonsson led Endicott to a crucial 1-0-1 record against Morrisville State last weekend by recording 50 saves, a .943 save percentage and a 1.45 goals against average. Jonsson recorded 21 saves in the opening game of the weekend series on Friday, before stopping 29 shots versus the Mustangs on Saturday to help the Gulls erase a 2-0 deficit in the third period, earn a 2-2 (OT) tie and, more importantly, slide into second place in the conference standings.

So far during her freshman campaign, Jonsson has been named the CHC Rookie of the Week four times, and the CHC Goaltender of the Week on three occasions. Jonsson currently sports a 9-5-4 record to go along with 442 saves, and a 1.53 goals against average. Jonsson ranks second in the conference in starts (18), minutes (1096:35), goals against average (1.53), save percentage (.940), and wins (9), and also third overall in saves (442).

Endicott (11-6-4, 7-1-2 CHC) will play Daniel Webster on the road next Friday at 8 p.m.
